Day two at Yellowstone, we headed toward the north entrance. We saw lots of wildlife and found one of the few areas its legal to swim, where a hot spring converges with a cold creek creating a nice cozy swimming hole. Because of all the driving we have been doing, Olivia and Brayden are getting tired of our music choices...so now Ryan and I are getting acquainted with Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Imagine Dragons, and Taylor Swift to name a few :)
Hello black bear. We kept our distance from this guy. It's recommended to stay 100 yards away from bears and wolves.
Tower Falls
The original (now north) entrance to America's first National Park, Yellowstone, in Gardiner, Montana. It was added to get visitors excited when they got off the train considering the average appearing landscape in this area. Yellowstone was created in 1872, but the arch was dedicated in 1903 by Theodore Roosevelt. "For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People" is inscribed at the top.
Where Gardiner River meets Boiling River.
On the other side of the pool area, the Gardiner River was cold and rushing. Olivia and Brayden took a ride through the fast moving portion and Ryan grabbed them up before being swept downstream.
Ahhhh. Great way to spend a warm afternoon.
Mammoth Hot Springs area.
This elk herd found a nice grazing spot outside this house in the Mammoth Hot springs area.
We took a drive through Lamar Valley near dusk hoping to see more wildlife. Here is a pronghorn.
Yay, here is a grizzly bear snoozing from a distance!
Sunset this evening was so beautiful as a thunderstorm was rolling in.
Total Miles: about 100
