Day 62 Grand Teton to Yellowstone

July 2, 2013

After a lovely three days, goodbye Grand Teton National Park, its time to move on...

Hello Yellowstone National Park.

Dragon's Mouth Spring is our first view of Yellowstone's unique landscape of geysers, mud pits, colorful pools and geothermal activity.

Just snoozing. We are amazed by these big furry bison. They are everywhere!

An example of just how close visitors are to them. Yellowstone recommends no closer than 25 yards. Pretty sure we are closer than that, at least there is a really old, rickety fence in between us :)

One of many bison/bear jams on the roads of Yellowstone. Its fourth of July week and this place is packed with homo sapien-type creatures and their vehicles as well as animals.

View of the Lower Falls at the Uncle Tom's trailhead.

Olivia and Brayden in front of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone at Artist's Point.

A big elk bull munching on some grass about 50 feet from the road.

Old Faithful Inn, built by Robert C Reamer in the winter of 1903-1904, remains the largest log cabin in the world. It is seven stories high. It is said that the design is asymmetric to reflect the chaos of nature. It was so beautiful, Olivia and I felt like we were walking into the titanic when we went inside.

Sunset at Old Faithful.

Total Miles: about 215 (and that's mostly driving around inside the park, this place is HUGE)
