Day 60 Grand Teton

June 30, 2013

Today is our inaugural hike with Olivia and Brayden. Their hiking boots are worn in and ready to go. We chose a 9 mile out and back trail from Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls, to Inspiration Point through Cascade Canyon to where the North and South Fork Rivers converge and then back.
By taking the Jenny Lake boat shuttle, we cut out an extra 2 miles on the way in and out. It was a beautiful, cool, calm morning for our quick boat ride. Grand Teton is in the background.

The three of us started off with more clothes on than Ryan (because he is almost always comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt), but soon the layers were shed. This heat wave created temperatures in the low 90's by noon, despite how far north we are.

Ryan giving a little lesson about GPS at Hidden Falls, out first stop at 0.5 miles.

Brayden conquers Inspiration Point overlooking Jenny Lake at 1 mile.

Olivia and Ryan take a break to look at the serene scenery.

View of Cascade Canyon.

This flower reminds me of fireworks.

We are pumped to get to see this massive moose munching on grass about 20 feet off the trail!

About 6 miles into our hike, we took off our shoes, soaked our feet in the cold river, relaxed and rejuvenated for the last 3 mile stretch,

I think these are marmots peaking their heads out in a boulder field.

Olivia and I back near Inspiration Point, Olivia said she would be "ok" when she got here, under 1 mile to go!

We were all really tired after this hike. Glad we got an early start because it warmed up quickly. We planned to take a dip in a lake to cool off after but that sounded like too much effort, so we made a quick stop to get groceries and got back to camp. We took much needed showers, made dinner and got to bed early! So proud of Olivia and Brayden today for kicking butt today:)
