Day 61 Snake River and Chuckwagon

July 1, 2013

Ryan and I enjoy rafting so much and thought Olivia and Brayden would like a little excitement and a good splash on another hot day.

Boarding the bus. This river is created mostly by snowmelt is about 57 degrees today, so wetsuits seem like a good idea. Good thing the air temperature is 90 degrees.

Getting psyched up for the trip down Snake River near Jackson, WY. This stretch contains class II and III rapids which is a nice, fairly easy stretch for our first time rafters.

Olivia and Ryan on the left front of the boat.

Brayden and I make up the right front.

Olivia "riding the bull" in the front of the boat through the rapids.

Brayden getting his shot at riding the bull. Both gave a valiant effort. It was a quick 8 mile ride in an hour and a half. What a nice day to be out on the water!

Olivia dreaming about having a horse for a pet. Nice to meet you Ernie :) Ryan and I have come across several of these 'chuck wagon dinner' places along our travels, but for one reason or another never ended up indulging in one. It reminds us of a western luau...only better AND cheaper!

$22 for this cowboy shredded beef dinner and a night of entertainment at Bar J in Jackson.

We imagined the entertainment would be a bit on the cheesy side, but these cowboys could sing! They made lots of jokes and played all types of instruments. We were all impressed and had a great time. Glad we waited to include Olivia and Brayden.

What better way to end a summer camp night...mesmerized by a campfire. Finally no burn ban!
