The third week of our June Midwest tour, we headed to Wisconsin to our place on Lake Michigan and met up with my family.
Within 30 minutes of arrival my brother's kids were in the lake. No chilly weather or cold water will stop kids from getting in the water! Nolan walked to beach collected little fish that washed up, he found 116 of them.
Lila stops for a quick smile.
What would be a trip to Wisconsin be without a project? We have decided to tackle expanding our back patio. Travis, my dad, Ryan and I worked hard over the next several days.
Nolan and I took a little kayak trip over to and up Shivering Sands Creek. We scared off a flock of seagulls on our way.
My kayak partner.
In the creek, we saw a really big fish, some minnows, lily pads and a bridge. Nolan is ready with his bucket to scoop up anything interesting!
The fog has cleared today and the blue skies are gorgeous. Austin is contemplating when he can destruct his momma's awesome castle. Its only a matter of time...
Making a 'lake' in the middle of the castle.
Lots of progress being made up by the house.
This evening we are taking off from work to tour the upper part of Door County peninsula. We drove up the lake side and down the bayside with our first stop at Al Johnson's restaurant in Sister Bay. We thought the kids may enjoy seeing the goats perched on the roof.
After a great dinner at Wilson's diner in Ephraim, we enjoyed the bay views on the adjacent dock.

Next stop is Not Yet Licked, a custard spot in Fish Creek. Megan and I pose.
This pic cracks me up.
This custard spot has a big playground for kids and a creek that Travis and Nolan tried to fish in. Here is Ryan and my dad chillin'.
Ryan being a kid, going head first down the twisty slide.
Nolan.
Another warmer day, great day to soak in some rays.
Austin finding some big feathers.
Lila is practicing her casting with her princess fishing pole.
Travis braves the polar bear dip into Lake Michigan. Only Nolan has made it this far in. I made it in up to my thighs. Not sure what the water temperature of Lake Michigan is, but I am guessing its upper 40's to lower 50's. Brrr!
Ryan's grandparents 'Nana and Boppa' made it 5 houses down to our place for a fish fry tonight. They are 95 years young!
Enjoying the fruits of our hard labor this week by the new fire pit. S'mores time.
The new patio. 50 square feet more outdoor living space to be enjoyed for years to come. Thanks to everyone for their hard work this week!
This last day is a breezy one, great day for flying a kite. Ken, Ryan's dad, always has lots of tricks up his sleeve to entertain kiddos.
Austin hanging out with the traditional Door County fish boil crew over at Nana and Boppas'.
Looks about ready!
Whitefish, potatoes and onions. A good combination. What a week! Lots of work, lots of family time, great meals, courtesy of my mom, and great company. Thanks to everyone for making the long trip. It was so great to have you.
