Day 33-34 Balboa Park and Torrey Pines

June 3-4, 2013

Ryan and I biked about 17 miles or so from Chris and Julia's place to Balboa Park and back. Balboa Park is like the Central Park of San Diego. It has several museums and the famed San Diego Zoo. The architecture of the buildings is very ornate. Too bad I never took any pictures to show you! We had a couple serious canyons to bike over and nearly entered the freeway once--oops!

The next day we drove up to Torrey Pines State Park, a little gem on the coast north of La Jolla and south of Del Mar. It is also home to a world famous golf course. We hiked over the bluffs down to the Pacific Ocean and back. Compared to our previous hikes, this really was an enjoyable walk in the park!

 Mariposa Lily complete with bee.

Being up on these bluffs overlooking the mighty Pacific reminded us of hiking along the Empire Dunes Trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes overlooking Lake Michigan.

Wonder what its drug of choice was??

These hanggliders and paragliders were also enjoying a beautiful, breezy day. They launch from a park just down the coast.

We made it down to the beach. Enjoying this spot at low tide, I think it looks a bit different at high tide.

Nice little rest stop before we hike it on back up the hill.

Isla getting an Uncle Ryan ride after we had dinner at TigerTiger. Isla was not so interested in her Nutella and Jam sandwich, so Julia and I shared it for dessert. Yum!
