Jan 19-27 Welcome Elena Katherine

Jan 19-27, 2015

Well, this morning, January 19, around 6:15 am, my water broke. It's time to head to the hospital! Guess I won't be working my last scheduled shift after all…darn.

The last bump pic!

After several hours of only mild contractions, walking the L&D unit, chilling on a birthing ball, we decided to start Pitocin (to increase contractions) and get this party started. That quickly turned to misery, so I agreed (or begged) for the epidural.

After several hours of laboring, one attempt at pushing, some baby heart decelerations, position changes, a break for both of us, then around 2am we began to push for real.

Two hours later, at 4:01am on January 20 this little one made her debut.

Her little umbilical cord happened to be tied in a knot and wrapped around her left foot.

She is not a happy camper here! Elena Katherine Cantzler is 7lbs 2 oz and is 21.5 inches long. We may have a basketball player on our hands!

A little kangaroo time after all that laboring.

Our first family picture!

With hat/Without hat, she wanted to show off her hair :)

Elena's first visitors all the way from Michigan!

Elena is excited to meet Aunt Lindsay and Uncle Kevin.

Even Greg and Lara stopped by to meet Elena!

Ryan getting his daddy-daughter time during the 4am-6am shift.

We encouraged an early discharge from the hospital and got the ok from both our docs, YAY! We are all doing great and are ready to get to the comforts of home!

Happy to be home!

Grandpa and Grandma Parak getting some Elena time in.

Second family pic :)

Grandpa P on duty, its hard to put her down :)

Elena showing off her spiky 'do.

Daily morning daddy-daughter time and mommy gets to catch up on sleep!

I could get used to this view...

Elena waving "Hi" (or about to karate chop).

Caught a little smile today (or gas).

Mom and Dad, "For my 1 week birthday, I'd like to go to Costco."

Stay tuned for endless more pics of me…this is the end of my first week.

Jan 17-18 Archs' Ohio Visit

Jan 17-18, 2015

Since my goddaughter, Olivia was born nearly 18 years ago, I have not missed a birthday party up in Michigan. My unborn child is trying to sabotage me from making it to her 18th birthday. Aunt Cindy and Olivia kindly made a trip down to Columbus to visit me for their birthdays!

Olivia and her godparents (Uncle Mike the teddy bear).

Happy birthday to Olivia (Jan 19) and Aunt Cindy (Jan 20)!

After an array of appetizers at our place, we headed out for Columbus Restaurant Week and enjoyed some chicken and waffles among other things at Bar 145.

Little did we know it turned into a dance club complete with live band after we finished up eating!

Aunt Cindy shakin' it :)

So fun.

Our end of the night Yahtzee game. Thank you so much for coming to visit Ryan and I! I was hesitant to travel during my 39th week…and for good reason, the next day, my water broke (on Olivia's birthday).

Dec 30-Jan 5 New Years with Cantzlers' in Wisconsin

Dec 30, 2014 -Jan 5, 2015

I wondered for months if we would be able to make this trip up to Wisconsin for New Years with the Cantzlers'. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and we packed the car seat and diaper bag just in case. Thankfully it came back without a baby in it!

Amazingly, we hit a new record for drive time…9.5 hours from Columbus to Sturgeon Bay! Rewards of the long drive!

Sunrise over Lake Michigan.

Beautiful sunny day on the beach!

Ken, Mady and Carmen joined me for a beach walk. Here they are "holding" up a walkway.

Collecting treasures.

Sunset over Lake Michigan.

Wind is coming in off the lake today.

Family game time.

New Years Eve or Mardi Gras? I made it until about 9:30 pm…lame!

Snow this morning, but the sun is trying to show its face.

I took a quiet, solo walk in the woods this afternoon.

Happy New Year from Door County.

Sturgeon Bay YMCA offers free entry on New Years Day. Fun for the whole family!

Carmen.

Chris and Cora.

Ever changing…sunset tonight.

Hanging out after dinner. The majority of the Cantzlers' are playing trivia crack with each other :)

Kevin and Lindsay on dish duty. Kevin getting in some squats! Work it.

Carol and Chris checking out the annual San Diego Cantzler photo album.

Brayden with one of his Christmas presents.

I am impressed with the crazy cloud formation this morning. I call it the 'cloud vortex.'

Giant floating snow balls in the creek today.

Ryan and I enjoying a hike.

Aunt Beth got all the Packers gear!

Sean and some upside down girls.

Carol and her boys.

All of us, sans Nana this year...

Do you wanna build a snowman?

Door County snow tastes good!

Kevin, Lindsay, Ryan, Ken and I took a little trip to Cave Point County Park.

Kev and Linds above the icicles, not nearly as much ice as last year at this time.

Brr.

Its hard to zip my coat these days!

The snowman is a little bent over today, wonder what he was up to last night?

Cora trying on some big shoes. Good thing Isla is helping to keep her little sister upright :)

Sunrise on our last day, until next time…Thanks to everyone for making the trek up here. It was a great week at the lake!
