June 5 Highbanks Grllzz Hike

June 5, 2014

Several of these girls are preparing for a upcoming multi-day hike in West Virginia. The rest of us are tag-a-longs for a girls evening (including me).

Getting ready to start our Highbanks Hike.

If you look closely there is a big woodpecker.

Carolyn and her love of insects never grows old. Here she is with a snail.

Looking up at the Observation Deck high above the Olentangy River. Lovely evening to be outside with the girls!

June 3 Alum Creek SUP

June 3, 2014

Ryan got us stand up paddle boards. He doesn't need much excuse for a new toy purchase! We took them out to Alum Creek today for their maiden voyage.

It took about 1 minute to get all the way out with the wind at our backs and about 20 minutes to get back in!

Ryan's skills are awesome today, compared to his last attempt in Turks and Caicos last fall.

Me coming back in. I think we both fell in just about the same amount of times. Gorgeous day to be on the lake!

May 31 New Moon Canoe Trip

May 31, 2014

Kevin and Lindsay had a fun day hiking down in Hocking Hills and invited us down for a New Moon Dusk canoe trip. The four of us all decided we wanted to stay inside the canoe :)

We got equipped with glow necklaces and bracelets.

It was a nice evening on the river.

Crazy root system on this tree.

Goose family crossing.

Sunset on the river.

A little bluegrass and roasted marshmallows to end the evening. What a fun night!

May 30 Jack Johnson

May 30, 2014

My reward for precepting my lovely friend Melinda during nurse practitioner school: Jack Johnson at Blossom in Cleveland.

Melinda and I had a great evening enjoying the chill music and people watching. She is moving to Seattle with her family next month, much luck in your new home!

May 25 Hoover Kayak and Golf

May 25, 2014

On this lovely Sunday, Ryan and I decided to take our hard shell kayaks (made for whitewater) out on the Hoover Reservoir. We spun in a lot of circles. These kayaks would much rather play in waves than go in a straight line!

Ryan took a spill and had to swim his kayak to the shore.

Dumping out all the water it took in.

Back upright in a little cove.

Since I'm the photographer, I must get one of myself!

A little toad on the disc golf course.

Ryan in action! I find disc golf and regular golf pretty similar. I'm ready to be done at the 9th hole and I throw it straight and about 50 feet in front of me almost every time. At least I'm consistent. Ryan says I need to put a little more 'hip' into it. I think I remember my softball coach telling me the same thing...

May 24 Dark Star Jubilee

May 24, 2014

Dark Star is a Grateful Dead tribute band. They put on a weekend festival called Dark Star Jubilee at Legend Valley near Buckeye Lake, just about an hour east of us. We went Saturday afternoon and stayed til the wee hours of morning with Kevin, Lindsay and Gerald. It was a family friendly, chill little hippie fest.

This is Galactic, a funky band from New Orleans. Ryan was super excited to see them and we made our way up to the front row to witness it all. I love the horns. Hoo nah neh!

May 18 Caseville

May 18, 2014

My sister's in-laws, Hal and Karen, graciously hosted Ryan and I after the wedding at their cottage in Caseville and made us a great breakfast Sunday morning.

Beautiful, sunny, cool day on Lake Huron.

Cecilia heading leading our walk to the beach.

Ceci wants to get a little closer to the water!

It is still early spring this far north with the Forsythia in bloom.

Ceci entertaining herself outside the cottage. Lovely morning in Caseville, but time for the long drive home!

May 17 Mike and Jenna's Wedding

May 17, 2014

My cousin Mike and his wife Jenna celebrated their wedding today in Parisville, Michigan.

Aunt Della, Uncle Don, my cousin's Tracy, Jeff and Jenna tearing it up on the dance floor.

Megan and Travis.

My cousin Tina and I.

Beer run on the way home.

Throwback to 2003, this lovely Dr. Wu is actually my cousin Tina's surgeon. I knew her back in the day. This is the two of us hanging out at a friend's Halloween party...the night I met Ryan! It really is a small world :)

May 17 Nolan's Tee Ball Game

May 17, 2014

Ryan and I travelled to Michigan for a wedding and got to take in one of my nephew, Nolan's Tee Ball games. Go Pirates!

Nolan gets a little instruction from Coach/Dad at home plate.

Eye on the ball!

My dad and his little buddy, Austin.

Its way more fun to play in the dirt than watch my brother's game!

Nolan in action, running to first base!

May 10 Mother's Weekend at Inniswood

May 10, 2014

Ken and Carol, Ryan's parents came to Columbus to visit over Mother's Day weekend. We spent Saturday evening strolling around Inniswood Metro Gardens.

The truth.

Beautiful and fragrant lilacs.

Not sure what these are but I like the spotted leaves.

Mom and her two youngest sons.
